Frequency Response Measurement & Correction
The ES Lab ES-R10 headphone has a bass bump in the 100 to 200 Hz range followed by a dip in the lower midrange, then a pronounced +6dB peak in the 3 to 6 kHz range. This gives the headphone a decidedly bright response.
Engaging the high-resolution convolution filter smooths the frequency response within a +- 0.5dB tolerance up to 5 kHz. The headphone drivers respond well with DSP to produce the ideal minimum phase response. This enhances the imaging and soundstage depth capabilities of this headphone which were good to begin with. With the upper midrange harshness subdued, the high frequency detail of these headphones shine through.
