Frequency Response Measurement & Correction
The ATH-ADX5000 has a +2 dB bass/midbass hump from 60 Hz to 250 Hz, but the bass rolls off quickly below 55 Hz. There is small midrange dip from 300 Hz to 600 Hz. This gives the headphone a warm sound, if it weren’t for the +7 dB upper midrange peak from 3.5 to 4.5 kHz which dominates this headphones sound signature. The small dip in the 1.5 to 3 kHz range where the ear is the most sensitive takes away the natural sound of lead vocals/instruments. Known in some quarters as the classic “W” headphone curve.
