Frequency Response Measurement & Correction
The LCD-4 is one of Audeze’s most neutral headphones but still has a midrange peak and a dip in our ears most sensitive frequency range which makes these headphones too laid back from neutral. The +4 dB peak at 1.6 kHz gives the vocals a nasally quality and pushed too far forward in the mix.
Engaging the high-resolution FIR filter, the lead vocals/instruments midrange do not sound colored or forward. The upper midrange does not sound dark and sounds more articulate. The deep bass now gives the headphone weight (no pun intended). The soundstage now has a real 3D depth of field.
