Frequency Response Measurement & Correction
The Focal Clear is an open back headphone with limited deep bass -5 dB down at 20 Hz. There is a broad mid bass and lower midrange bump followed by a similar bump at 1.25 kHz. The response is down a few dB after 2 kHz. The resulting sound is a headphone that is on the warm side of neutral and lacking presence in the 2 to 5 kHz range.
Engaging the high-resolution convolution filter transforms these headphones into an accurate sound reproducer with a ruler flat frequency response from 20 Hz to 5 kHz +- 0.5 dB tolerance. With the convolution filter, the headphones sound crystal clear.
